The Love of God The Love of God

What is the love of God really like—and what does it mean to experience it personally?

In this Christmas message, The Love of God, Pastor Kevin Butler continues the Behold Our God series by pointing us to a love that does not disappear when we wander, fail, or rebel. Drawing from Jeremiah 31, Psalm 103, and Jesus’ prayer in John 17, we see a God whose love is everlasting, faithful, and personal—a love that draws us back, comes near, and invites us into real relationship.

At Christmas, God did not send a message from a distance. He sent His Son. In Jesus, God’s love becomes visible, relational, and transformative. Jesus prays that the very love the Father has for Him would live within us by the Holy Spirit—shaping our lives and flowing through us to others.

This message invites us to move from distance to closeness, from shame to grace, and from simply knowing about God’s love to living in it every day. As we celebrate Advent and Christmas, we are reminded that the greatest gift ever given is Jesus Christ—the love of God made known.
