Jesus the True and Better Abraham — Trust, Surrender, Freedom | Behold Our God – Week 15
Why is it so hard to trust God when life feels unsafe?
In this message, we walk through Abraham’s story in Genesis 12–22 and discover the painful difference between believing God and trusting God. Abraham believed God’s promise — yet again and again he took control when fear hit: lying to protect himself, manipulating God’s timing, and trying to secure the promise on his own.
But on Mount Moriah, everything changes.
When Abraham finally surrenders Isaac — the very thing the promise depended on — God reveals the deeper truth: the promise was never Isaac… it was God Himself.
Jesus is the True and Better Abraham.
Abraham protected himself. Jesus surrendered Himself.
God stopped Abraham’s hand. God did not stop His own.
When your trust breaks like Abraham’s, the answer is not to try harder — it is to run to Jesus.
Big Idea:
Trust leads to surrender, and surrender leads to freedom.
