In Week 20 of our Behold Our God series, we look at Esther 4 and see how her courage before the king points us to Someone greater. Esther risked her life, hoping the scepter would be extended. Jesus walked into death knowing it would not be.
The King did not extend the scepter to Jesus — so it could be extended to us.
Through Romans 6 and Hebrews 4, we see that because of Christ’s death and resurrection, we are no longer outside the palace doors. We are united to Him. What is true of Jesus becomes true for us. The final word over your life is not rejection, shame, sin, or death — it is mercy.
This message was preached on a baptism and child dedication Sunday, reminding us that salvation is not bravery — it is identification. Buried with Christ. Raised with Christ. Alive in Him.
